Get the Kids Paddling this Summer!
Burloak Canoe Club offers a range of programs for paddlers of all ages and levels of experience.
Elementary Programs (8-15 yrs old)
Burloak Canoe Club’s Elementary Program caters to both experienced and inexperienced youth paddlers. Participants learn to paddle all boats (sprint canoe and sprint kayak) – singles, doubles, fours and war canoe. Practices are run in a group environment, mixing with other groups when appropriate.
Participants have the opportunity to compete in age-class regattas and championships. The season, which runs from May-October, is capped with a Provincial Championship for U13 and U15 paddlers, and a Divisional Championship for U11/U13 paddlers.
Spring War Canoe Challenge
Check out this 4-week program for 10-13 year olds that runs from May 14 to June 9, 2018. This program ends with a war canoe race at a club competition on June 9, 2018.
Sprint Starter Academy
New this year is the Sprint Starter Academy for ages 10-13, a one-week introductory program to the sport of sprint canoe and kayak. One-week sessions run from July 9 – August 17, 2018, Monday to Friday from 9:30am – 12:30pm.
Canoe Kids Summer Camp
The Canoe Kids Summer Camp program is a one-week introduction to sprint canoeing and kayaking for children ages eight to twelve run in partnership with the Town of Oakville. The camp runs for multiple weeks from July 3 to August 24. Half-day (9am – noon) camps are available as well as an afternoon add-on (noon – 4:30pm) if desired.
All Canoe Kids are invited to join the Burloak Canoe Club and transition to the Club’s Elementary Program. Canoe Kids who join the club have their memberships prorated.
